I’ve been eating primarily paleo for a few years now. It can be challenging because I always have anxiety about eating out not knowing all the ingredients and how my body will tolerate it. It can be especially challenging to find restaurants with paleo options, so when I moved to Hermosa Beach, I was super excited to find out about the SOURCE CAFE at the beach (and that it was a short walk from me!).
This charming cafe offers a variety of vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and paleo options and specializes in salads, smoothies, juices and other yummy healthy treats. I love seeing all their creations on Instagram and following their owner.
Although the menu items are on the pricier side, it is so worth it when you are nourishing your body with clean, organic and nutritious food. Here’s what I’ve enjoyed so far and highly recommend:
Avocado Toast: Paleo bread with cashew cheese, radish, parsley, flax oil & sumac
This is not your basic avocado toast – the flavors were so unique! The toast is advertised with whole grain toast, but I requested the paleo flax bread.
Purple Smoothie Bowl: Purple potato, cauliflower, blueberries, coconut meat, collagen, coconut water, maca, lucuma, honey & paleo granola
Wow – this was amazing and SO filling. I brought half home for breakfast the next day. I definitely want to try their green smoothie bowl next.
Mind Opener: Drip coffee, organic grass-fed butter, mct oil, cinnamon
Are you familiar with bullet-proof coffee? Read more about it here. This was rich, creamy, and gave me a great bolt of energy. Stay tuned for a blog post on how I make something similar at home!
Magic Recovery Inflammation Support Smoothie
I had no idea what blue majik was, and I’ll admit, the blue color and mysteriousness was what intrigued me to buy it. I immediately researched it when I got home and found out this information.
The blue-green algae extract is derived from spirulina and has amazing inflammatory reducing benefits. I’m thinking of purchasing it to do some fun recipe experimenting at home (like this blue coconut ice cream)!
